LUNCH
To date he has provisionally reserved a private function room at the Boathouse in Christchurch , Quay Road, Christchurch, BH23 1BU from 1200-1700 for the main event. The room has both indoor and outdoor private seating, good views, a good-sized bar area and rest rooms on the same level. The plan is to go with their lunch/tapas menu rather than the afternoon tea option.
There are several hotels locally, The Captains Club, The Kings, a Travel Lodge and several B&B all within a few minutes walking distance. There are convenient parking options, Christchurch Railway Station is about 15 Minutes walk. The Harbour Hotel is a 30minute walk or a 5minute drive.
If you have any 28 course memorabilia or photos feel free to bring them with you. I can also post photos on the web site if you forward them to me.
Of course, nothing is for free, there will be a cost associated with the private room! Graham has volunteered to handle the financials, once he has it sorted I'll update the page.
EVENING
The plan for those staying on for the evening event is a mix and mingle in a local pub, and possibly meet up with s few people living in the area who were cadets around the same time as us. Graham has suggested the Rising sun in Christchurch would fit the bill, proper old pub, great atmosphere, excellent covered (all weather) outdoor/indoor area. So not wx dependent. Its been going for years too with the same owners. At one time it was an air traffic haunt, lovingly known then by the ATC types as the 'Writhing Nun'. Its popular, always has good food, pan Asian menu. Trip advisor comments and Rising Sun Home Page
